It's Christmas at St Mary Magdalene Academy!

Posted on: 20th Dec 2018

Christmas is always an exciting time in school. It begins with the arrival of our giant Christmas tree early in December, festooned in tinsel and lights. The next cause for excitement is Christmas Jumper Day, where students can wear their craziest Christmas knit for a £2 donation to our school charity WWF – which raised a fantastically festive £650.

And today was one of our very favourite events of the year. Our entire school (aside from students taking mock exams) gathered together for a truly special event: the annual Christmas Service.

In the stunning surroundings of Union Chapel, every student is involved. First they were moved by beautiful music, then they joined in with the amazing singing, listened thoughtfully to heartwarming readings by students, staff and a special guest – our old friend Rev April – and finally they cheered wildly at a spectacular barbershop version of Last Christmas!

What a delightful, rousing end to the Autumn Term. Now all that’s left is to wish all our students, families, friends and supporters a wonderful Christmas.
