1-1 conversations with health professionals and teams including GPs, nurses, and health care workers

Seminars and group presentations on other aspects of working in the NHS and social care
From clinical physiologists to paediatricians, art therapists to mental health nursing, and social care, there is an NHS career for everyone.

World Skills UK Spotlight Talks are back by popular demand! Delivering free virtual advice and guidance to support young people to confidently take the next step on their career ladder. Broadcast live on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 March, Spotlight on Green Jobs, will focus on the variety of green careers that can be built from education and apprenticeships. The government’s ambition to create 2 million jobs in the green economy by 2030 is an exciting opportunity for young people to develop skills which will help accelerate the UK towards net-zero. Are you considering a career in healthcare or Medicine? Would you like to hear from current UCL Medical students about the application process, what it takes to work in this field and how you can make a strong application? Then this four week after school programme could be perfect for you. You will also have the opportunity to take part in clinical skills. For the scientists among you, get ready for an action packed four days (3-6 August) that will take you deeper into the realms of the subjects you know including biology, chemistry, physics and maths, looking at them in new, exciting ways. You will be taking part in hands-on practicals and workshops in real undergraduate labs with some of Imperial’s finest academics and students.
For the budding engineers, you’ll be amazed at how many different disciplines of engineering we can fit into four days. You will try your hand at a number of different disciplines, and you will also take part in several hands-on activities, be introduced to some core concepts in engineering and witness first hand exciting technology that is being developed in our research labs. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to meet current students, be challenged in academic sessions covering a range of sciences, and find out more about Cambridge – both as a city, and a university. From 16-19 August you will have the chance to experience what it is like to study at medical school and explore medicine as a future career. You will learn about what it takes to become a doctor through talks, workshops and practical activities. There will be sessions on a variety of specialisms within medicine as well as support for preparing a strong application to medical school. Students will also have the chance to experience broader university life through a series of social activities and time to relax with other participants and undergraduate mentors. The Introduction to Pathways conference is a virtual event taking place on Saturday 30 April 2022. This conference gives you the opportunity to spend time exploring higher education and finding out more about both law and finance related degrees. Staff and current LSE undergraduate students work with students to explore these social science disciplines and their relevance to the big questions of the day. This month, our College of Prefects, Class of 2022 and faculty of staff voted for the school's new Head Prefects.
It was our toughest hustings yet, with 16 candidates campaigning for election and a very tight vote. We are delighted to announce that our new Head Prefects are Eve and Stan (pictured above wearing their new silver ties), and their deputies are Dea and Mayowa. The new team are currently planning their special focus for the year ahead.
Huge congratulations to Eve, Stan, Dea and Mayowa. And well done to every candidate who stepped forward to apply.
