GCSE Results 2021
GREAT GCSE RESULTS 2021
The Academy is immensely proud once again to announce GCSE results which showcase the talent and hard work of our young people and staff.
In a clear demonstration of our sustained upward trajectory, over 90% of pupils have achieved the benchmark 4+ (the old C grade) in both English and mathematics which is up from 86% in 2020. Over 70% have secured the challenging 5+ grade and over 30% achieved 7+ (the old A grade, A* and A**) in both subjects.
Across the curriculum areas, we have celebrated excellent results that reflect the unique character of the Academy. As a Church of England foundation school, we are delighted to celebrate 100% of our RS candidates receiving grade 4 and above. Furthermore, Mandarin continues its extraordinary 100% grade 7-9 year-on-year streak. In addition, Biology, Chemistry, French, German and Physics all had 100% of their candidates achieving GCSEs at grade 4-9.
There were so many individual successes that we have selected just a few to highlight:
Congratulations to Thea, Tom M, Veronique, Bee, and Annabelle who achieved “9 for 9” across all their GCSE subjects. Similar congratulations go to Avery, Sophia, Elisabeth, Zain, and Arturo, who achieved seven or more grade 9s.
Headteacher, Vicky Linsley, said
’This has been another challenging year for the pupils: they have had to find the strength to maintain momentum, resolve, and commitment despite the shifting sands of the Pandemic.
These results are a just reward for their diligence and resilience. Most of them will remain with us and I look forward to seeing them continue to build upon this success all the way into their future careers and lives.
I am also thankful to the dedicated staff team and supportive parents who make it happen. We are a strong community and it is only by working together as a team that we turn out these excellent results year after year.’
Andrew Caspari, Chair of Governors, said ‘The Governors are very proud of the students’ achievements: they have been rewarded for their hard work. The results are also a tribute to the hugely dedicated staff at the Academy who have nurtured and supported our Year 11s throughout their time at St Mary Magdalene.’
