OUTSTANDING 2026 GCSE Results For SMMA Students

Posted on: 20th Aug 2026

This year’s GCSE results are another set of fantastic outcomes for the pupils of St Mary Magdalene Academy.

For the second year running, over 45% of all grades were 7 (the old A grade) or above - a remarkable achievement that opens the door to Key Stage 5 courses with the most demanding entry requirements.

We are also delighted that over 70% of pupils achieved a strong pass (grade 5 or above) in both English and Maths, with more than 80% securing at least a standard pass (grade 4, equivalent to the old C) in these core subjects. These results reflect the pupils’ tremendous commitment, hard work and perseverance throughout their studies.

Across the wider curriculum, there were outstanding subject results. 100% of pupils achieved grades 4–9 in Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Design and Technology, German, Italian, Mandarin, Music and Physics, and in all of these subjects more than 60% attained grade 7 or higher.

There were so many individual successes that we have selected just a few to highlight: Aliénor, Daniel, Leo, Max, Maria, Oscar and Rosalie all got seven or more Grade 9s across their subjects; Arian, Tom and Nina achieved the coveted “9 at 9”; special mentions for Maddie, Ornaith and Lucy who achieved ten grade 9s and Yasmina and Esmie who secured eleven grade 9s - an extraordinary achievement.

We are immensely proud of all our pupils and their achievements, and congratulate them on the dedication and determination that have made these results possible.

Director of Curriculum, Dr Claire Bisdorff, says:

‘We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding GCSE achievements of our 2026 cohort. The results are a reflection of the resilience, determination and commitment pupils have shown throughout their time with us, and we are incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished. As they take their next steps in education, we are confident that the skills, knowledge and confidence they have developed will help them to thrive.

We would also like to recognise the dedication of our teaching staff, whose encouragement, expertise and unwavering support have played a crucial part in helping our pupils reach their potential.’

Secondary Headteacher, John Reardon says:

'The Class of 2026 have achieved an exceptional set of results, and we are incredibly proud of them.

Their success is a reflection of their hard work, commitment and determination, from early-morning study to extra sessions after school. Above all, this year group has been wonderful to work with; the pupils have been kind and gentle throughout their time at the Academy. We wish them every success for their next steps!

A final great big thank you to all of my colleagues who have challenged and supported these pupils along the way.'

Trust CEO, Vicky Linsley says:

'SMMA continues to be a fantastic school, turning out consistently outstanding results so far above the national average year after year. That is a remarkable achievement in a truly comprehensive school. Congratulations!'
