Dear Parents and Carers
PTSA Quiz Night
You should have received a letter yesterday giving you details of the PTSA quiz night that is taking place in multi-purpose hall (Liverpool Road entrance) on Thursday 9 February 7pm – 9pm. Tickets cost £1 and are available from the Primary office.
Chinese New Year
This week Miss Buster from the Secondary department led our assembly on Monday on the theme of the Chinese New Year. Miss Buster’s assembly was as ever informative and full of colour and some of the children were fortunate enough to win prizes for their excellent listening! Amongst other things, the children learnt about the different animals for each year and that this is the year of the dragon. Special congratulations to Taylor-Jo, Kieren, Annabel and Jonathan who all won prizes for their fantastic posters advertising the arrival of the two new panda bears to Edinburgh Zoo – their reward is a special Chinese lunch in Chinatown!
Homework
Homework is a wonderful opportunity for children to share their learning with home. Your child’s class teacher plans homework tasks to support the learning taking place in the classroom. Please download our homework guide, which includes details of how to support your child with their homework.
St Mary Magdalene Girls’ Football Team
Huge congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 girls’ football team. On Saturday they attended the Inner London Country Schools’ Tournament 7-a-side and I am very pleased to tell you that they came a magnificent first. They played five other schools and won all of their matches. During the entire competition they conceded just one goal. The organisers said they had never seen such a display of impressive football and behaviour and wished us well as we proceed to the regional finals. Special congratulations then to the team: Katie, Kenny, Stevie, Hope, Hannah, Eliza, Beau, Tiarna and Amy.
Staff News
Donna in the Primary office will be having a minor operation next week. She will be away from work for up to six weeks. I am sure that you will join with me in wishing her a full and speedy recovery. In the meantime other admin staff from the Academy will be taking her place. If possible please could you ensure that all monies paid to the office are in an envelope clearly labelled.
