Dear Parents and Carers
SMMA Charity Shop
The sixth form write: This year, a charity shop is being run by sixth form students with the aim of helping to raise money for Amnesty International, the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Ben Kinsella Trust and we’d love for you to come and visit. We are lucky enough to have products like teas, spices and scarves from our partner school in Varanasi, along with coin purses and our best seller, hand crafted friendship bracelets. Please help us raise money for these good causes by coming along and buying a taste of India. We will be in the primary school playground after school on a regular basis, and look forward to seeing you there!
Coffee Morning – Wednesday 25 January 9am
This Wednesday 25 January, Mrs Shepherd will be attending the Primary Coffee Morning to talk to you about the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme – please do come along if you can. As well as hearing generally about the PYP curriculum, you will have the opportunity to learn more about your child’s unit of inquiry and of the activities that they are doing to support this.
Friends’ Of and the PTSA
Thank you again to the Friends’ Of’ and to everyone who has supported their work over the years. A particular thank you for providing all of the funds necessary to pay for the new climbing wall in the playground - it is certainly a welcome addition and the children are enjoying using it during playtimes.
The first social event of the newly formed Parent Teacher Student Association will take place on Thursday 9 February 7pm – 9pm and will be a quiz night. Please make a note of this date in your diary – further details to follow.
A story worth telling…
This week Mrs Faucett told the children about her sighting of the oar fish in Japan – a rare sight near the shore as these are usually only found in deep waters. Mrs Shepherd read the children the story Giraffes can’t dance by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees which demonstrated the learner profile attributes of risk-taker, caring and reflective.
