Roderick Jones

rod jonesWhat type of governor are you? I am a co-opted governor.

Why are you a governor of St Mary Magdalene Academy? As a governor of the current St Mary Magdalene Primary School I hope to help the new Academy realise and continue the legacy of first class education that the Primary School leaves to this community and its children.

Which subject at school did you love best – and why? Design and technology (woodwork, metalwork and technical drawing). If I was not on a sports field, all my spare time was spent in one of the workshops. I enjoyed the process of designing, making and seeing it through to completion.

What’s your favourite book of all time? The Bible; Piercing the Darkness by Frank Peretti; and Biggles and the Black Peril.

Who was your most memorable / inspiring teacher at school? Mr Beacock and Mr Powell (they taught me that anything is possible if you work hard at it).

What’s your favourite: chocolate or ice cream? Pistachio ice cream.

What are your hopes for St Mary Magdalene Academy? That all pupils who attend will be challenged in their learning and thrive, and that the Christian ethos will permeate every area of the Academy’s life.
