Toy-making for beginners
25 April 2008
On Monday 24 March, the Primary Department began their design and technology projects. This year, the topic was toys and each class worked on designing and creating a toy which could be enjoyed by another child.
The children created their toys by using a wide range of different skills, from sawing wood to investigating pneumatics. Here are the project titles for each class...
Reception Class: Hand puppets
Year 1: Fabric bugs
Year 2: Pneumatic monsters
Year 3: Moving monsters
Year 4: Fabric wallets
Year 5: Moving toys with a cam mechanism
Year 6: Controllable vehicles using an electrical circuit
Each project involved skills and challenges suitable for the age range. The children worked through the processes of design, creation and evaluation, with the results on show in the Primary Hall on Friday 4 April.
