New Sixth Form's day out on the farm

What a day it was indeed. We had just made acquaintance with each other and we were off on a team building activity to get to know each other a little better.

Blacklands Farm was the location and at first we took the name of the place literally, thinking, "Oh no! Animals." It was not to be, and was a day that I and the rest of the sixth form will not forget.

Embarking on mind-boggling challenges and more fun activities such as high rope and abseiling, we really bonded into the teams we were split into and to a point started to become quite competive.

Hats off to all those who faced their fear of heights and those "show offs" like the lovely Miss Bishop, who demonstrated quite professionally how it should be done. Not forgetting our librarian Miss Wallace who won Team One 25 points for doing the high rope, which was extremely enjoyable to watch. Not so enjoyable for her to do.

As the day drew to a close, we had to do an egg challenge and Team One decided to use their time wrapping paper and sellotape around the egg, thinking it wouldn't crack. It almost worked, but the egg did open up, keeping its shape, however... well, sort of.

Team Two's "parachute" idea went completely down the toilet as their time management was not one of their best skills. Their egg (which they named chick) came to a very quick premature end as it fell out of the parachute dock and smashed into pieces.

They still triumphed as champions overall, but it was an enjoyable experience for all, one we wish to undertake again in the future.
