Dawn Ferdinand
What type of governor are you? Foundation.
Why are you a governor of St Mary Magdalene Academy? As a headteacher in a Church of England primary school in Islington, I am eager to assist the Academy in becoming a secondary school of excellence, so that children who have the privilege of attending get the education they so deserve.
Which subject at school did you love best and why? Maths just love those numbers! PE I was great at PE. I was captain of the netball team for five years, entered dance, gymnastics and trampoline competitions for the school, as well as played rounders in the school team. I spent a great deal of my spare time involved in PE.
What's your favourite book of all time? Astonishing the Gods by Ben Okri it's just a beautiful, poetic read.
Who was your most memorable / inspiring teacher at school? Mrs Wilson, the PE teacher. After all, I did spend most of my time following her around! I just wanted to be like her... beautiful, talented, fit and loving.
What's your favourite: chocolate or ice cream? Hot chocolate fudge cake with ice-cream simply scrumptious!
What are your hopes for St Mary Magdalene Academy? My prayer is that the Academy will be the secondary school that sets the highest standards academically, socially, morally, spiritually and physically for children from all backgrounds, thus giving them a start in life which will create solid foundations for the rest of their lives.
